Some movies are marked or certified 18+. What is the meaning of it? Is it adult movies? Do theatre owner check the icard when someone buys ticket or when enters the theatre.

It means no-one under 18 are allowed or suitable to watch the movie online, on DVD or I theatre.  Because the sensor board thinks the movie displays content that are not appropriate for kids such as violance, foul language, or nudity.
